After the Bengals game, we were about to write off the Eagles chances to make the playoffs, but now they’re right back in the mix. Thanks to the Cowboys losing to the Steelers and the Redskins losing to the Ravens, the Eagles have a chance to make the playoffs, but they’ll have to run the table.
The schedule benefits them. Next week, Monday Night, at home against Cleveland. That should be an easy win. Week 16, on the road, in Washington. By winning that one, the Eagles can eliminate the Redskins from the playoffs (if they run the table). Week 17, at home, against the Cowboys: if they win this one: 10-5-1. The win over the Cowboys would give the Cowboys 6 losses. The win over the Redskins would give the Redskins their 6th loss.
What else has to happen on the way: the Falcons need to lose a game. We can be pretty sure that the NFC South will grab the first Wild Card since they have two teams at 9-3. That leaves the Falcons, Eagles, and Cowboys competing for the final playoff spot. The Vikings will need to win the NFC North and they could do that by defeating the Falcons (at home), to give the Falcons their 6th loss. The Falcons also have Tampa Bay, which is no easy match.
The Eagles are certainly alive and well. Each week is a playoff game for them at this point and we all know one thing, December is the most important month of football and so far, the Eagles have started on the right track.
What do you think. Can the Eagles run the table?
