– The Eagles have signed veteran tight end Alex Smith to a one-year deal worth $1 million. Smith was released by the Patriots on Sunday. The Eagles released tight end Tony Curtis to make room for Smith, who is a third-round pick of Tampa Bay in 2005. He’s been in the area of 250-400 yards and 3 TDs per season in his last 4 seasons with the Bucs. Curtis was more of a blocking TE, whereas Smith is more valuable for the Eagles in the passing game.
