Eagles Add Bruising LSU RB Charles Scott With 200th Pick

RB was a need many of us wanted the Eagles to address.  It wasn’t a priority, especially after landing Mike Bell.  It could have waited until round 5 and that’s exactly what happened.  There’s no question that LeSean McCoy, Mike Bell, and Leonard Weaver can get the job done themselves, but you can never have enough RBs in this league. Let’s take a look at the Eagles 200th overall pick Charles Scott.

Scott is a 6’1″ 231 pound RB from LSU.  He had 542 rushing yards and 4 TDs this past season in 9 games, but he has ammassed 2,317 yards and 32 TDs over the course of his collegiate career.  2008 was Scott’s best season where he turned in 1,174 yards and 18 TDs.  (See stats)

I’m loving what I see on the tape.  He puts his head down and just trucks forward using his weight to his advantage like Beanie Wells or Shonn Greene.  The Eagles got themselves a player.  Excellent late-round steal if you ask me.  Take a look:

Eagles Draft White Lightning 2.0 Florida WR Riley Cooper

I blogged previously how the Eagles should think about picking up Jordan Shippley in round 3 in order to replace Kevin Curtis.  The Bengals ended up being the ones who got their hands on Shipley with the 21st pick in round 3.

It was unrealistic that the Eagles would spend a third-round pick on Shipley since the Eagles have a lot of needs other than WR, but I’m glad to see the Eagles invest a 5th-round pick in a player who can be just as good as Shipley (although totally different type of players).

Cooper is 6’3″ 222 pounds, so he has great size and can be another great possession receiver for the Eagles.  He had 51 receptions, 961 yards, and 9 TDs this past season (see stats). Cooper ran a 4.52 at the combine. He is also drawing praise for his blocking on special teams.

Take a look at Flordia WR Riley Cooper:

Getting to Know Eagles New DE Brandon Graham

I like what I’m seeing from Graham on the game tape.  He has a high motor, but I’m a bit concerned about his size.  Him and Cole will definitely put a lot of QBs in fear.  Let’s learn a little bit more about the guy.  Here is a new video that surfaced on YouTube, but unfortunately the sound goes out half-way through:

Eagles Trade Up For DE Brandon Graham

The Eagles traded up to #13 to select what we all thought would be Earl Thomas.  However, it ended up being Michigan DE Brandon Graham.  They gave up their 2 third rounders to make the move.  I don’t understand why they reached so high for a guy who probably wouldn’t have been picked up until the 20′s.  The Eagles must really like the guy.  They passed on Jason Pierre-Paul, who ended up going to the Giants.  Graham has a hell of a motor, but is a bit undersized.  I rather have Thomas, but the Eagles needed another pass rusher, so not a bad move. I wonder who got this one right, the Eagles or the Giants.

Here are some Brandon Graham highlights:

Eagles Likely To Move Up For Eric Berry or Earl Thomas

NFL Draft excitement is in the air and word is that the Eagles are going to get AGGRESSIVE. The Eagles are talking to the Chiefs and Dolphins about moving up from the 24th pick. It looks like one of these players could very well be an Eagle.

ERIC BERRY

EARL THOMAS

If we can get either of these guys I like, I like it a lot. I cannot wait!

Eagles 2010 Schedule

Two Sunday Night games. One Monday Night game: McNabb vs. Eagles II when it’s being played in Washington. I like the schedule. It looks like an easy first half. The Eagles should definitely be 5-2 by the bye week with their only truly tough games against the Packers, Falcons, and maybe Titans depending on which version we see next season. At least the Eagles get the Packers and Falcons at home. The tough part will be the final stretch with two game against Dallas, @Giants, and vs. Vikings.

Week 1: vs. Packers (4:15PM, FOX)
Week 2: at Lions (1PM, FOX)
Week 3: at Jaguars (4:05PM, FOX)
Week 4: vs. Redskins (4:15PM, FOX)
Week 5: at 49ers (8:20PM, NBC)
Week 6: vs. Falcons (1PM, FOX)
Week 7: at Titans (1PM, FOX)
Week 8: BYE

Eagles trade McNabb to Redskins for 37th pick

McNabb traded to RedskinsDonovan McNabb has been traded to the Washington Redskins for the Redskins 2010 2nd round pick, the 37th overall pick in this year’s draft, as well as 3rd- or 4th-round pick in 2011.

I’m shocked that the Eagles traded him within the division.

However, I am excited about the Kevin Kolb era to begin and I think that makes the Eagles a much better football team.

The good thing about this trade is there won’t be all the “what if we still had McNabb” talk this season if McNabb were traded to the Raiders.  We’ll know if the Eagles made the right or wrong move quickly.  The Eagles will either finish ahead or behind of the Redskins in the division and that’s really all there is to it.

Happy trails Donovan McNabb!
