Sixers overcome 18-point deficit against Bulls
It seems that in every single game the 76ers have played lately, they find a way to shock you. Things started going their way just a little over a month ago against Dallas -- a win nobody saw coming. Considering the team was 4-11 in the month of January, nobody expected them to go 14-4 in their last 18 games. After the Mavericks win, the Sixers won games against the Magic; the Suns, a team they haven't been able to beat since 2002 (on the road to boot); and then the Pistons -- also on the road. When they were down 86-70 at the end of the 3rd quarter against the Bulls last night, I wrote them off: there's no way they'll be able to overcome a 16-point deficit going into the 4th quarter on the road. Well, they were able to, and the Sixers won 110-106.The hero this game was Rodney Carney again, a player who has been disrespected by Sixers fans a lot throughout the season. Rodney Carney has been incredible in the last two games. His 16-point game (7/10 FG) against the Pistons was the offensive effort that contributed the most to the win in Detroit. Tonight, Carney went off in the 4th quarter: he was the main reason the 76ers were able to erase an 18-point deficit. 12 of Carney's 18 points came in the 4th quarter; 6 of them off 3-balls in the final minutes of the game.
I nominate Rodney Carney: NBA Player of the Week.
6th-Seed Race Update: Those pesky Wizards keep winning. They're 7-3 in their last 10 and coming off a win against the Cavaliers. The Sixers remain 1.5 games behind the Wizards. The Wizard's next 5 games: LAC, ATL, ORL, MIA, DET. The Sixers next 5 games: SA, DEN, ORL, NJ, BOS.
Flyers Update: The Flyers continue to be less than average: 5-3-2 in their last 10; 2-4 in their last 6. They really dropped the ball with 2-straight losses against the Maple Leafs, but they were still able to hang onto the 8th seed in the East. They're currently up by 2 points on the Sabres.
